I hear there was a senior game

…but I’m a little occupied this weekend with all-stars and girls lax previews, so I missed it. I believe the Journal News had someone at the game in my place.
I hear a lot of players couldn’t make it either, which is unfortunate. I was at last year’s senior game and it looked like fun.
Right now I’m trying to finalize my first teams for Rockland and Westchester. I probably won’t post anything regarding who made which teams, at least not until the all-star issue comes out in mid-April, but I’m sure it will get leaked somehow anyway.

Many people have commented about the game on the blog below.
Last of the hockey for this year is the CHSHL Senior game…
The Senior Classic game will be held on Saturday March 24th, 3pm at The Ice Hutch in Mt. Vernon
Select Seniors from the Diocese of Brooklyn vs Archdiocese of NY
girls laxxxxx…watt
Here’s an idea that might fly for next year. Have the Public School’s senior game take place one week later and have them play a senior all-star game against the CHSHL seniors. ALL money collected at the gate goes to a special charity.
That would be a fun game to watch…..........Bet the seniors wouldn’t skip that game.
If it was one week later, there would have been no conflicts with those seniors that were upstate at their midget tournaments. They would have had more than enough seniors to play since these seniors wanted to play and were disappointed that the game was made this past weekend when these tournaments were going on. Hope those that put the senior game together read this blog and take notice for next year!
Many high school coaches failed to notify their players in time. I heard two coaches talking at the game and they said they may set the rosters sooner, thus giving plenty of time to notify the players.
The Section would never sanction a Catholic vs Public senior game for insurance and State regs.
Either way its a fun game
Don’t understand…..insurance and State regs. They play each other during the regular season. Seems like this would be easy to setup.

A great idea. Then the game would have less of a scrimmage feel to it. But, if you let each school send a few players, you would have too many seniors for just 2 teams.
Why not add this twist- have two Section 1 teams (west of Hudson for one team/east of Hudson for the other) and 2 CHSHL teams( Westchester and Bronx for one team/LI, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island for the other). Have “coaches of the year” winners get first shot a coaching a team.
Have a day long tourney at a central location (Ice Hutch seems right). Semis in the AM with the Section 1 teams playing the CHSHL teams. Have a third place game in the late afternoon and a championship game thereafter.
You would get a lot of fan interest. Many of the teammates of the seniors playing would watch. Parents getting one last look at junior on skates before the HS career ends. Players hanging out together for a day. With big rosters, the kids would not get worn out from 2 games in a day. They do 2 games a day at travel state tourneys.
It would be a nice finish to a HS career. And it would be sure to result in serious post tourney blogging/bragging/analyzing/making excuses/ect.
Dan,
Great idea! As the World Ambassador for ALL Hockey. We would like you to set this idea in motion. It would a great way to end the season. And we’ll make sure that you get ALL THE CREDIT.
How did they break the teams up for the game yesterday?
By the way people….when this blog stops…we shall all meet at the girls lacrosse blog to talk OK? I don’t think we can all wait like 6 or 7 months for the blog to start again. I know I can’t. So if you wake up one day, and the hockey blog is gone….go to the girls lacrosse blog.
Are there any players that qualifed for any National Tournaments from our area?
I know a number of the Vipers (Guilmette (Ossining), Perlowitz (Ossining), Rogers (Rye), Iobbi (Rye), Donahue (Rye), Miranda (Ossining), Bosco (Pleasantville) WENT up to Tier 2 Midget Majors. Think they lost, not sure?
Are you kidding? Public schools seniors next year would dominate that game
hahaha,
It would be more fun then the game tht just took place. That game was a joke. Should of cancelled it. Should have better structure next year.
A lot of good Seniors from Rockland were upstate this weekend and couldn’t make it to the Senior game (if any of the ones below were invited, which I’m sure they were). They are all on the Clarkstown Capitals Midget Major team…
Congrats to the Clarkstown Capitals Midget Major team for making it to the Tier III State Championship game before losing a heartbreaker 3-2. As stated, a lot of great Seniors from Rockland were on that team including –
Mike Holvig (Clarkstown South), Kevin Moro (Clarkstown North), Rob Goldman (Clarkstown North), Jared Lederfarb (Clarkstown North), Chris Denhert (Pearl River), Mike Leone (Pearl River), Mike Fossner (Tappan Zee), Loftus (Fordham Prep), Will Ferguson (Fordham Prep), etc. I know I am missing people, feel free to add in…
CONGRATS BOYS ON ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL CAPITALS SEASON AND ON GREAT HIGH SCHOOL CAREERS! GOOD LUCK IN THE FUTURE AND CONTINUE TO PLAY HOCKEY WHEREVER YOU GO!
“The Real Deal w/ Bill McNeil” – haha, yes, great idea! Since the blog will be shut down soon (ahhh what are we all going to do!), if anyone feels like talking hockey, go to Dan’s Girls Lacrosse blog! I mean who talks girls lacrosse?
Dan will have to be forced to talk hockey when no one posting on the girls lax blog haha!
Once again bloggers, great season! It was fun! This was def. the most active blog on the Journal News site – no question. We should all have a season ending party at a bar or restaurant or somethin lol. Have a great Spring and Summer!
All Seniors in Sec 1 – Good luck in the future!
Undergrads – we’ll look forward to chatting about you guys next year!
real deal
we can go to the nj site open all year. Then come back in the fall.
http://www.nj.com/forums/hshockey/
Dan – can you give us a date of when exaclty the hockey blog will be shutting down? I say right after the All County awards… we have to chat about those!
Have fun playing high school hockey. For 99% of these kids it will all be over after senior year. Anyone know what college team Gitler of Scarsdale or Connelly from Fordham are playing on now? Does anyone remember them?
Want a short blog subject? Name how many kids who played around here in the last 5 years are playing D1 or D3 hockey.
Last years MVP senior players? What school do they lace them up for.
Relax it is just a game! LOL
It is all in fun. But it does make for fun and lively discussion. A lot of kids don’t play college after high school football in texas…but those people are true fanatics. They sell out 10,000 seat stadiums every night and have radio shows dedicated to high school football. In this area, the high school sports are more fun than the college sports.
MR. MCNIEL THANK YOU, its great fun and makes for great discussion, but thats all it is, college around here unless you have a connection isnt very fun to follow…i had fun in my four varsity years and i know this blog is going to help high school hockey around here and bring the hockey community a little closer.
Connolly played club hockey for Holy Cross and his teammate David DelSonno played club at Siena. Siena ended up going to the Nationals again (in Colorado) and I think they placed 4th….Both kids had good years with their respective teams.
What high school teams are entering into leagues this spring ?. I Know Iona Prep, Stepinac, Mamaroneck and Pelham usually enter the Ice Hutch/Hommocks league. Anyone else?
PUCKSTER,
Connolly played for Fordham and DelSonno played for Iona. And Siena, did not make the final four. Once Siena got knocked out, DelSonno then was selected for the All-Star game.
Also attending the Club Hockey Nationals were J.Namy(NYU/Fordham), K.King (University of Michigan/Iona Prep).
NYU, I think lost all their games and Michigan went 2 and 1.
yea i know there is a spring league at brester including brester lakeland mahopac john jay carmel white plains y-town and a few others from that are i think ti starts in a few weeks i dont know how competitive it gets considering lakeland/ panas won it last year
fordham will probably play the ice hutch spring league again, under yet another alias, and yet again with about 10 rostered players and graduating seniors as coaches. defending champs two years running.
for spring i meant but i guess it works for chshl too
To FP40,
Whay I hear, doesn’t matter how much you play. NEXT year is going to be a tough year for the Rams.Losing to many seniors. Nothing going to help you out.
I hear suffern is going to split their spring team.. just to make it fun.. if they didn’t nobody would want to play them
Hockey Fans,
not sure how that ties into spring league hockey but ok…and i wont be playing at all…that whole college thing.
Hey FP40,
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST! Good Luck!
thanks…i think. i’m confused. but thanks.

Cool.

interesting
Two new studies show why some people are more attractive for members of the opposite sex than others.
The University of Florida, Florida State University found that physically attractive people almost instantly attract the attention of the interlocutor, sobesednitsy with them, literally, it is difficult to make eye. This conclusion was reached by a series of psychological experiments, which were determined by the people who believe in sending the first seconds after the acquaintance. Here, a curious feature: single, unmarried experimental preferred to look at the guys, beauty opposite sex, and family, people most often by representatives of their sex.
The authors believe that this feature developed a behavior as a result of the evolution: a man trying to find a decent pair to acquire offspring. If this is resolved, he wondered potential rivals. Detailed information about this magazine will be published Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
In turn, a joint study of the Rockefeller University, Rockefeller University and Duke University, Duke University in North Carolina revealed that women are perceived differently by men smell. During experiments studied the perception of women one of the ingredients of male pheromone-androstenona smell, which is contained in urine or sweat.
The results were startling: women are part of this repugnant odor, and the other part is very attractive, resembling the smell of vanilla, and the third group have not felt any smell. The authors argue that the reason is that the differences in the receptor responsible for the olfactory system, from different people are different.
It has long been proven that mammals (including human) odor is one way of attracting the attention of representatives of the opposite sex. A detailed article about the journal Nature will publish.
