Hockey got the cover of the Rockland All-County issue, with Suffern’s Tom Natoli being named Athlete of the Season.
I did an interview with Tom at Sport-O-Rama last week that will air on RNN (channel 19 in Rockland) on Thursday I believe. I’m not a broadcaster, and neither is Natoli, so don’t hold the results against either one of us. It was our first time on camera, but hopefully we’ll get to do it again during the next hockey season.
You folks on the east side of the river have Mahopac gymnast Kylie Shields on the cover, and on the last page of the issue you’ve got Westchester/Putnam hockey player of the year Matt Donahue. I know what you’re thinking and the answer is no. I don’t favor goalies. There’s no argument for the existence of a more critical individual player in Westchester this season than Donahue. Feel free to try to make one, though.

You could not have picked 2 more deserving guys than those 2. Without either one, Suffern/Rye are ordinary teams. (well, ok, they are really good ordinary teams).
Still dont like having the CHSHL in the all-star selections, they should have their own categories.
All in all, the selections make sense.
Hey, why did basketball get 2 full pages in color???
whoever wrote the article about natoli and put everything in sufferns colors should be shot… and all the pics of him. wow… just pathetic
Well, somebody’s bitter, but not very observant.
“whoever wrote the article about natoli” was me, Daniel Kiernan. That’s why it says STORY BY DANIEL KIERNAN above it.
Lets see. The newspaper stories were for all-county selections for high school hockey and the other winter sports and their pick on athelete of the season… and… you ‘WHAT’ decide to vent what ever anger you have that Natoli should be playing somewhere else. As for ‘real teams” don’t get much more ‘REAL” than Suffern around here(and in the state)for high school hockey. You probably think that the Mt. Vernon HS basketball players wouldn’t be so good if they were playing in th NBA. Your kid didn’t get recognized?
