I overestimated the Sunday blog traffic

I guess most people visit our blogs on weekdays, and even some of those people might be unaware that High (school) Sticking is still around at all. Without a link on the blogs page, we’re pretty hard to find here.
Anyway, feel free to rediscover the place and reopen discussions. If you’re going to talk about the all-star stuff, keep in mind our standing rule about negative comments on players. Go in peace.

I think everyone was monitoring the water level in their basements and not the blog. Now that the storm has passed, I would expect people to weigh in on the selections. Are you going to follow the hockey matches for the Empire State games being played in Weschester in July? I hear the girls will play in a renovated Playland Ice Casino while the boys will skate in the Puddle Palace in Pelham. It is hard to envision a day game in July at the Ice Hutch, unless they get a stronger compressor. Rumor is that the Hudson Valley boys team is the one to beat. Was up at Brewster yesterday where a bunch of the Hudson Valley hopefulls looked like they were getting revved up for Empire Games tryouts. Should be a good time.
I think if you just took the Stepinac JV team and made that the Empire Team, the gold would be ours.
If the selections were announced 3 weeks ago, the blog would be hit 1000x. Its just too late for anyone to really care at this point. Not your fault Dan, and your selections were basically right on.
By the way, I see in todays paper that New Roc City is on borrowed time as an ice rink. So one of the best rinks are going to bite the dust. I guess we will see a Target or Wal-Mart there. I think only New Rochelle and Byram Hills used that rink anyway.
for anyone who cares i think what is the last little bit of high school hockey news comes out tonight as the CHSHL will announce its all-star selections online around 7 p.m. at chshl.org
no one cares
you’re a punk…grow up

I know the blog is over ,but I was curious as to what happen to your STICKIE AWARDS it would have been fun,and again thanks for the great coverage this yr.You made it really worth while.Even though my son is on his way to college to play hopefully both Hockey and Lacrosse at Castleton State in Vermont. I will keep up with the blog until my younger guy finishes H.S. and continued success down the road. Thanks again.
“toughD” – just an FYI – there is a Section 1 connection at Castleton State – former Clarkstown North standout Joe Hutchko was Senior Captain of the hockey team this year… I’m sure he’d answering any quesiotns your son has…it’s a good up and coming program, best of luck to your son!
If your son dosen’t play 2 years of juniors they won’t even look at him. Just look at Castleon States’s roster. Sorry just reality
Castleton state
Thanks and my son knows J.Hutchko and they have spoken. The proram has really turned around
Reality if you look at the Roster a few players came from the MJHL my son played there last yr and his coach was the GM of the Castleton coach’s team when he played JR’S. My son has met with the coach and was told to play JR’S which he did so he has some what of an in to start. So we will hope and if he doesn’t play Varsity to start he will play on there club team.
An off season thought

Dan,
how about a post on the hudson valley empire team. i think this team was picked by now. they have probably started to practice. it should be fun being that HV is the home team. these games are great and usually well played
Final cuts for HV Empires is on 6/21
HV will have about 8 practices by the time of the final cut on 6/21. There are about 30 skaters and 4 goalies left. As Not yet notes, final cuts are this thursday – 18 skaters and 2 goalies. Practices pick-up again after July 4th till the games start in late July.
Dan, are there any plans to do a piece in the paper for the HV ESG hockey team. like there was today for lacrosse?
If Regan starts over the best goaltender in NYS for ESG, they have NO CHANCE to win a medal. To even consider that loudmouth over a proven Natoli is a joke.
I hope Dan K was simply on vacation this week and has not handed over the coverage of Section 1 hockey to a new writer.
what does “offsides” mean?
A look at the Section One website shows that the League games are in place for each school. Let the nonsense begin!
ok…where is the website????

Yorktown and Scarsdale to League 2 and Rye and Rye Neck to League 1. Now thats a scoop.
