Here’s the weekly podcast, recorded late Thursday:
We talked about Pelham-Rye, Pelham-Suffern, Rye Town/Harrison-Mamaroneck and Iona Prep-Fordham Prep, among other things.
Some pretty interesting results last night. Mike Daley made 41 saves as Brewster gave White Plains its toughest league test of the season, leading 3-2 after two periods before falling 4-3. Matt Altieri scored the winner from Phil Sigona with 2:54 left. Eric Perlowitz scored four times for Mount Pleasant, who got a much needed win and knocked Clarkstown South out of the playoffs (see my previous post for that breakdown). Brett Novick scored four times asRye Town/Harrison took care of Pawling 8-5, and Ossining won its sixth in a row, beating New Rochelle 4-3 in on a goal by Steven Faiella goal 2:30 into overtime.

Of course, they also include the latest power rankings, and I will do an extended top 10 before lunch.
I thought this was the hardest week of the season, so I’d love to see other people give it a try before I post mine. Here’s one example: Team A beats Team B twice. Team B beats Team C twice. Team C just beat Team A. Where do you rank Team A, Team B and Team C?

RTH “takes care” of Pawling? It was 5-5 into the 3rd. If is wasn’t for penalties, Pawling might of “took care” of RTH.

cant see how Pelham is out of power rankings based on one loss to Rye. Didnt Pelham split with Rye this year? So lets say Pelham had beaten Rye the other night would they have moved up? no because Mamaroneck is ahead of them. Makes no sense to drop them out completely especially since Pelham is still in third place in league 1 and ahead of Rye in the league standings and maybe the # 1 seed in sectionals
You must be completely retarded. Because of the penalities you lost? Maybe because a goalie with about 10 prior shots at the varsity level beat you. Maybe because the coach decided to break up his first line. Not working…..........
What happened when RTH decided they wanted the lead and to stop messing around? Like the start of the third period. Three goals in a minute and a half. Of maybe they stopped playing when it was 5-2 in the second…........
You’re a good team, pretty stupid with taking penalites, but don’t be foolish. You never had a shot if they played to beat you.

And while you are on the topic of penalites for Pawling, you got so many because that is what happens when you can’t keep up with another team. You start hooking and tripping because you can’t cover them. I agree RTH played lousy, but I heard your fans talking, you are living in a dream world!
And #11 should be benched. When their is one knee on knee in a game it is rare. To see the same kid do it to three players, he is trying to hurt someone. How is your coach going to feel when that kid ruins someones high school hockey career with a torn ACL? The coach ought to bench that kid for his actions and throw him of the team if he does it anymore!
They do play a chippy and cheap game, dangerous team to play for injuries
I agree that you have to watch out for cheap shots with Pawling. When we last played them, certain players were clearly looking to hurt someone.
Does anyone know if games scheduled north of 287 are cancelled today? I saw on the news that Mahopac school is closed today so would assume their game v Rye is cancelled as well.
Did Pelham have school today? Is the Suffern/Pelham game still on?
Can’t really say that it was the toughest league game of the season for WP. Although, Brewster did come out hungry last night and WP started off flat. Would have to say that Yorktown was tougher though. Don’t forget, WP was missing #9 last night who made a major difference in the first Brewster game, 9-0. Have to say that the Brewster goalie had a helluva game last night. Also can’t forget that sweet save “Stonewall” had that robbed the Brewster kid of a shorthanded breakaway! WP is still undefeated in the league with one game left…..GO TIGERS! You guys have accomplished what hasn’t been done for WP IN 12 YEARS! GREAT JOB!

Very nice article about Chris McIndoe in the Rockland paper today. Yes, he is the reason North is still a dangerous team come playoff time. He’s had a tremendous season, and I’m glad he finally got some recognition!
To:Nice McIndoe Article in Paper, you are correct, it is a great article, but everyone that really matters already knew how good he was. He has had the recognition for quite some time now. He is a very good goalie and he should be proud.
Now my next topic is a little off topic and my wife yelled at me when I went to ask this question last night..so i couldn’t post it, but now i am at work here goes.. I assume all of you have noticed the new little disclaimer type thing..my question is: Is it possible to write a libelous, defamatory, threatening or abusive comments against anonymous blogger? If you don’t know who the person is how can you do one of these things..?? now, if nobody cares just forget i asked.
I don’t think you can write those things about an anonymous blogger. For instance if I were hypothetically to write “postman likes to #^*& farm animals” there would be nothing libelous about it since no one knows who either of us are. But if I were to write that about a kid or coach on one of the teams, then yes, action can be taken.

I just looked on pelham’s website and i didn’t see anything about school being closed so i assume the game is still on..

Someone mentioned in an earlier blog that Mamaroneck’s Tommy Capalbo ended up going to a crummy D-3 school. That can not be further from the truth. That school happens to be Hobart and as a current freshman Tommy is playing for a nationally ranked team and receiving a great education from a very prestigious academic college. Please let’s stop making ignorant comments regarding kids. Anyone would be very proud if their son or daughter attended Hobart.

Glad to see Sigona doing well without Encarnaco, shows he is also one of the top players in the section who is also leading in points now. Encarnaco hasnt played in the past 3 games and will miss one more before returning to the team, still 2nd in the section. I have to say thats pretty impressive
ID-11, thanks for the laugh about my potential lawsuit against postman. I will either be serving postman with legal papers at tonight’s Suffern-Pelham game or I will be demanding that he buy me a drink after the game. I think I will go with the drink. And I think the new JN disclaimer has a few purposes. It is an attempt for them to protect themselves if somebody claims that they did nothing to stop libelous etc posts. And they also want to be able to toss people off the site if they act inappropriately and not have people claim they didn’t know they couldn’t make such a post. Finally, they just want to remind us all to act civilized. but is interesting to think about whether two anonymous people can create legal exposure for themselves by threatening, libeling etc.
Even though the site is anonymous to us, it is not to the Journal News people. While we can’t see each other’s email addresses, they know what email addresses are posting what messages regardless of what name you go by. Harold pointed that out last year on one of the blogs when he noticed that people were arguing with themselves under two different names while using the same email address?!?!?
Also, anyone who’s ever watched an episode of Law & Order knows that if they want to, they can track down the IP address that a post came from and figure out what computer you used and therefore who you are. So if postman lays out Biff at the Suffern/Pelham game tonight, Ramapo’s Finest should be able to track him down rather easily.

I talked to the Suffern athletics office an hour ago, the Pelham-Suffern game is definitely on for 7:15 at Sport-O.
If postman & Biff are the same guy, that’ll make the fight pretty interesting.
I can tell you that Biff, Ramapo’s Finest and myself are NOT the same person.. please.. I actually consider that Libel and just might put in a call to my attorney. that is one of the worst insults i have ever read on this!!!

and LoHud Hockey, I agree that we are not anonymous to the JN and law enforcement. but the question remains, if I don’t know who postman is and I threaten him or I call him an idiot or I call his boss and tell his boss to take away his internet access at work, and he cries like a little baby and calls the police and his lawyer and they track me down, have I committed a crime or exposed myself to civil liability? I think not. But since postman is going to buy me a drink tonight, I will do no such thing.

For those in charge of selling the T-shirts when you walk into a Suffern game at SOR, you should think about a “I spend all day on the High School Sticking Blog and all I got is this lousy T-Shirt” shirt. It would sell like hotcakes.
Holy Cow….Can you guys see the roll Step is on.. 3 shutouts in 4 games and a DESTRUCTION of Fordham ( #10 powre ranked team in Westchester… really? ) today with a 9-0 score and that only 9 goals cause the coach didn’t let them score anymore… Farrell is an unknown team because of the Junior/travel kids that may or may not play on a given night, so you never know what you are gong to get with them, but Stepinac should be the team to beat in the CHSHL playoffs…..thoughts.. comments… Mr. brick?..ionian? etc…
