It is true....JFK's goaile, Mike DeLaVergne has moved back to the Pawling Schools. He will be playing hockey and bringing up the level of competition Pawling will offer. Also, JFK has picked up new players as well.

What about John Jay?

Rofosky and Greenberg are solid skaters
alex wohl and louis ricci are back on D to cause havoc infront of the crease.

Yes he's a senior, it's just nice to have the focus on some other teams who show improvement rather than league 1 teams

Byram Hills won what 4 games last year? Marasco is good but hes not young I think he is a senior? As far as the sectional game with Pelham I recall the score being 6-3? and Pelham had a huge edge in shots something like 37 to 15? Besides are we tipping our hats and making a huge deal about another two school merged team becoming competitive? Shouldn`t they be? Two schools and in an area that has strong youth hockey programs in Brewster? They should be good by now.

S/NS Beat Byram Hills and Lakeland last year both league 3 teams and skated with League 1 Pelham the entire playoff game. In my opinion its a big deal how the team never had a lot of success in the past shoots up this one year. Maybe it isn't huge news but i think its worth a mention especially with the young talent (Maracso, Aruilio, Bassin)

All due respect whats the big deal of Somers/Ns moving up? Many teams move up or down. Further its not like they are moving to League 1, that would be news. Or even league 2. League 3 and 4 are still not as strong as the other two. Although Somers had a good year last season. If you want your team to "make news" either beat some quality teams or play with the big boys.

Harold, How come you make little to no mention of the Somers/NS team which moved up from league four to league three?

What's your point - First of all, don't put down the players on the NJCAA teams -- many go on to continue playing hockey on club teams and if you have ever watched a game you will see that it is competitive hockey. Second, Canton has played teams in D1 last year and beat them with only freshmen and sophs on their team -- they beat Scranton (D1) 7-2 last night - sure they might not be a strong team this year but they will only get better over the years. If those teams in D1 they beat last year are weak teams, then what are they doing there? Scranton is a weak D1 team -- so what are they doing there? If you're a section 1 fan, with two former sec. 1 players on the team, why don't you just route them on?

Canton
Thats my point, if look at the teams they played in the past (not what you call power house teams)and look at who they will be playing this yr it will be a big difference
As far as the NJCAA come on ,just look at the teams not much there no matter what you consider comp.hockey.

First of all, Canton was not an independent team. They were in the NJCAA for years. Last year, they had a new coach who was from an ACHA team and a new bunch of kids who exceeded expectations and made it to the quarterfinals of the NJCAA championship and also beat ACHA teams in Div. 1 like Oswego State, Univ. of Rochester and Niagara University. So it seems with more fire power on the team this year they will be competitive in D1 Club.
