Ice hockey in the Lower Hudson Valley with Harold Gutmann

Watch Clarkstown North-White Plains live

January
29

We’re going to be trying out our new technology today at the Clarkstown North-White Plains game, which is scheduled to start at 5:15. You can watch it live by clicking here.

We’ve never done this at Ebersole, and honestly I have no idea how it will look if we have to shoot through the glass. But we’re going to give it a shot. Feel free to leave your honest feedback in the comments section. If the sound is working, I will give a scoring summary after each period.

Later tonight I’ll post the new conference alignments for Section 1 (which hockey will have to use to craft leagues for next year), and after that I’ll have the updated power rankings.

  1. prediction

should be a good one at ebersole. WP has been struggling but i expect them to put up a fight. 8-5 CN

  2. chsaaguy

this one is gonna be one to watch

  3. fanotgame

I actually have a lot of faith in the Tiger D men (McGee, McCarrick and Klimchuck). They also have two lines of forwards that know how to backcheck. The goalie is capable of a big game. I see this as a lower scoring affair. 4-3 North.

  4. fanotgame

I meant McCandliss on the Tiger D. McCarrick is more of a forward.

  5. agreed

McGee can skate with Willows and possibly slow him down a bit.

  6. agreed

Also, a game has just been added for ETB

Monday, February 9th ETB vs. Iona Prep 830 @ Ice Hutch

  7. chsaaguy

    agreed,

    nice matchup

    2 scenarios

2 games (+ suffern) after ip’s regular season knowing they’re eliminated from playoffs

or 2 games after ip’s regular season with them waiting for playoffs to start

  8. chsaaguy

if ip loses this saturday and things dont go their way the night before…don’t expect cambria, molinaro, lopez, kirincic, gillespie, nolan, the pellows, etc. to all be there for these 2 nonleague games…or get any PT…

  9. HELP

TO ANY SUFFERN PLAYERS!! If you end up playing athena/odyssey, SHUT DOWN #36 he is the Willows of Section 5, also he has a couple of buddies that feed him and that he gets them back too, like willows does with Schuman, if u shut down the hot shot #36, 22, and 25 you can beat this team. TONS OF KIDS DONT PLAY, literally like CN they rely on their first line, and have a decent 2nd line I normally would never say this but go mounties i hope guys get the chance to knock them off

  10. Hockey Fan

Help – where are you from?

  11. Re; the poll

Chuck Norris vs. The World?...THATS NO CONTEST!!!!!

I would be more interested in Chuck Norris vs The Andromeda Galaxy, or Chuck Norris vs. A Black Hole. It would be a goood way to see if Chuck Norris is actually made of matter or some type of undefined super particals, or if the electrons in his atoms (which are frequently round house kicking) can withstand the force of a black hole. Just some suggestions, cause Chuck Norris vs. The World is like the NY Rangers vs. the mariners squirt b team.

  12. Taylor

Name and address, Help. He won’t see the ice. Its gonna cost you though.

  13. Taylor

Damnit, My name was supposed to say Jeff Gillooly. Great, now the cops are gonna show up at my house or something.

  14. How about Chuck Norris vs Iona JV?

Vegas Line : Iona JV -1

  15. icehole

    H,
Good Luck with the audio this time.

  16. Live Game

Sound works, would be nice if the Cam moved a bit…

Staring at the Red Line gets old

  17. game

sound is great, but it would help if the camera moved

  18. game

ok camera is moving, sound is great picture is great, just a tough spot for the camera to be, great job harold

  19. problems

is anyone else getting technical difficulties and/or the pelham=mamo game being played instead?

  20. icehole

i’m only getting the pelham / mamao game from last week

    help

  21. Ta-Da

switched to the mam’k pelham game..haha

  22. How about Chuck Norris vs Iona JV?

    I have Pelham/Mamo too. ???

  23. Me too

I got Mamo game too. Please help

  24. icehole

    ok now

  25. camera not moving

so far im just getting a still picture… and this is supposed to be new technology?!

  26. wonderin'

    score ?

  27. Score

    North 4, White Plains 1 after 2

  28. update

    Willows 4 – WP 1 after 2

  29. Comic Book Guy

    Worst Zamboni job ever.

  30. Mountie Style

    final 4-1 north

  31. fiya

what’s the scoring record for a single season?

  32. wptigerhockey

how does white plains keep it a closer game (3-1) against suffern at sport-o missing their 2 best players, and lose to clarkstown north at home 4-1 lol…north is the real deal this year…

  33. Monarch

I am shocked at how Willows and North continue to be dominate after NR showed how vulnerable a team they are, nothing against him as a skilled player
PS related to the blog; someone clearly has a vendetta against the North Rockland Coach as well as someone being overly zealous for chuck norris, thats 2 polls in a row now for each

  34. Westchester Hockey

    fiya

NY scoring record is 134 points by Bryan Gitler of Scarsdale in 2003-4 season

  35. chsaaguy

    chuck norris is jv,

    close

    final, iona 3, chaminade 3

you would’ve been mad if you bet it lol
iona up 3-2 with 5 left, iona takes a penalty and on the delay, GETS CALLED FOR ANOTHER…chaminade scores easily on the 5-3 with massive traffic in front from a point shot…iona’s mcdermott (kid who scored 7 in one game, #14) ties the game with 2 left with a half-of-a-breakaway

excellent game to watch, $3 definitely worth more than paying to watch some rangers games (last night’s debacle against pittsburgh…unreal…)

    superb game by both goalies

both teams were rolling 3-4 lines (iona seemed to be playing 5 d)

  36. topshelf17

    chsaaguy

Sounds like a good game, but now your going to get slammed :) . BTW, this is the Devils year anyway. They are dominating the Bruins

  37. CN

North beat White Plains 4-1. White Plain’s goal was a deflection off a defense man’s stick, but besides that North dominated the game. Good to see that North is back to it’s old self.

  38. chsaaguy

i agree, the devils are something else (who would’ve thought with those whole brodeur thing…they’re even better now…)

i still can’t figure out how the bruins are doing what their doing with thomas/fernandez between the pipes and all those forwards making names for themselves

down 2 after 2 isn’t safe, let’s see what happens..

  39. chsaaguy

    by the way

i know im asking for it lol

  40. topshelf17

How was the “crowd” at Murray’s ?

  41. chsaaguy

    topshelf, pretty good for jv

lots of parents/families…even some alums from both teams…

iona people know that there were going to be 5 league games to watch (to be competitive) this year that are local for the jv…the fordham games (iona completely played down to their level, did not play well) the home game against farrell (exciting 1 goal W), this one – the home chaminade game (a tie) and next thursday’s – home game against st. ant’s…get pretty good turn outs…

  42. Sec 1 Follower

I still think the NR-North game was a fluke. No way NR is able to do that again. They showed that in their 2 losses to Scarsdale and Mount Pleasant. Who scored for North and doesn’t ETB play tonite?

  43. topshelf17

Good, better than Flushing in the past with no atmosphere at all.

  44. chsaaguy

boston just scored 3 unanswered in the 3rd lol

  45. chsaaguy

    topshelf,

not sure why chaminade doesn’t utilize that rink in syosset more…seems like that place gets decent crowds…

  46. topshelf17

I’m telling you it wasn’t even a game the fisrt 2 periods, funny

  47. chsaaguy

how was the north-wp game to anyone who was there…?

anybody see the rcds game? score?

  48. topshelf17

    chsaa

I agree, shouldn’t play Fordham and Stepinac at Abe Stark and Iona or Farrell at Flushing considering all practices are at Syosset. Does not make any sense.

  49. Stop now

Than what happenned at the mamo jv games? 10-9 win and 4-4 tie aren’t especially impressive against a program who’s best sophomores are on varsity. Why doesn’t Iona JV consider these matches important. Certainly you want to have more tha 5 important games a year?

  50. Fan

CN game All four goals were scored by # 9 from # 26. Man those two are good!

  51. Section1 Hockey

    To Westchester Hockey,

The scoring record actually belongs to Chuck Norris who during the 1986-87 season had 250 goals…

    in one game.

  52. Hockeyfan45

All 4 goals from Willows, North came out a little flat and WP scored a quick goal off of a fluke deflection off a CN player’s stick. North took control after that scoring 2 goals making it 2-1 end of first. In the second North showed there true colors and took it to WP making the score 4-1 where it would stay as they missed 2 or 3 open opportunities in the third. Great game to watch but CN is a dangerous team, very strong.

  53. Samk

Good game tonight, both sides skated well, North had a great game. Good hockey. Side note, it was great meeting Harold tonight, had a nice chat with him. He is a good guy, the staff of the JN does a great job with these games. I saw where the camera for the game is located, Ebersole is a tough place to shoot.

  54. Point of Clarification

Willows – Gittler. Difference is when Gittler set the record, Scarsdale was league 1. Alot easier to do when playing league 2 teams.

  55. hockeyfan

monarch- CN was not shown as vulnerable against NR at all. CN dominated the game and NR got lucky to come out of the game with in 3 goals of CN. Mainly ETB and Pelham to an extent made CN look vulnerable. CN was dominated in the ETB game and steadily outplayed in the Pelham Game. On the flip side, CN were the ones who dominated NR. CN still has yet to lose…so they really aren’t that vulnerable as far as I’m concerned, three great teams in Pelham ETB and WP weren’t even able to bring them down.

  56. fiya

    Westchester hockey-

thanks I appreciate it…does anyone know if goals in the playoffs are counted? the next poll should be “do you think matt willows will break the scoring record” I personally think he will

  57. Agree

I think Matt Willows will break the scoring record, problem is, will the coach let him? It seems to me their coach was holding them back from scoring more goals. Yes, they were shooting, but they seem to be playing very defensive!

  58. Section one Guy

was the jv game between chaminade and iona anywhere near the spead of public school varsity games. ????

  59. haha!

will the coach let him? oh please… willows and shuman celebrate after their 8th 9th and 10th goals of games… of curse the coach will let them.. the question is how many points that willows “has” are actually his versus how many he has told the reffs were his points

  60. to agree??

I highly doubt there coach is trying to prevent him from breaking the record…pretty much all there TRYING to do is have him break the record

  61. ice hutch breaking news!

scarsdale was evacuated from practice tonight at the ice hutch due to a carbon monoxide leak.

  62. chsaaguy

    section one guy,

on jv, games between iona, chaminade, st. ant’s and farrell…yes, are that fast…as topshelf noted earlier, last year’s chaminade jv team handily beat its own v (7-3)...this year’s st. ant’s is probably on par with its v…and this year’s farrell and iona jv’s would probably keep games with their v’s tight and down to the wire

fast moving, hard hitting, good grit hockey..

  63. Section one Guy

    breaking news???

seriously did that happend at the Hutch

  64. ice hutch

New Ro was actually thrown off the ice, Scarsdale didnt get on at all. 2 days ago new ro’s practice got double booked so they missed out on that ice time too. I guess Witz was to busy preparing for VC live. I just wonder if this will effect the ice tomorrow.

  65. watch

You have not seen hockey until you have watched JV hockey in the southern parts of NY.

  66. chsaaguy

    section one guy,

the two fastest skaters in iona play jv (chiariello, #8, and logerfo, #9)

  67. In the know

Yes. Ice Hutch will be closed until early tomorrow afternoon. Faulty piece of equipment. Con Ed and Ice Hutch people were right on it. Repairing going on.

  68. break the record

you guys all think its a bad thing for willows to score goals.. im sorry you or your son sucks at hockey. and by the way the coach does infact hold him up so why dont u know what your talkin about before you talk. im sure if you son was good at hockey you would want him to score too. i guess thats just to bad though.
