Final: It’s all over and Pelham has earned a spot in the state semfinals, gang. Final: Pelham 6, Queensbury 2.
Flory scored both Pelican goals in the second period (the last one was an empty netter), giving him five goals for the game.
Pelham goalie Gavin Lambdin had 23 saves.
The Pelicans will play either Salmon River or Burke Catholic in next Saturday’s semifinals at 10 a.m. in Utica.
Update 2: How about this? We’ve completed two periods and Pelham now leads 4-1. Flory scored twice in the period and now has a hat trick. Michael Mamone had the other goal for the Pelicans, including the go-ahead goal two minutes into the period on a 5-on-3 break.
Update 1: Jake reports that it’s tied at 1-1 after one period. The Pelicans tied it up with a minute to go in the period on a power-play goal by Marc Flory. The goal was his 53rd of the season — a program record. Queensbury had taken a 1-0 lead on a goal by Anthony Soprano. (Yes, that’s his real name, gang.)
Pregame: Pelham (17-10) is looking to earn a state final four appearance against Section 2’s Queensbury (23-2-1). Jake Thomases is on hand at the Glens Falls Rec Center:

Go pelham! unfortunately wasn’t able to make the 3.5 hour trek up to glens falls despite buying a ticket earlier this week. I wonder how well the pelicans traveled over all up to this game, I only know of one car that made the trip although several wanted to but weren’t going to and there was no bus. Also is there no reception up at glens falls?

I am a Mamaroneck fan at heart but always like watching Pelham. They never let up and really dig deep when they need to. I hope Pelham takes this game.

Utica is 4 hours away. for a 10am game you’d have to leave at 5 or 5:30am. They do have plenty of time to arrange it and sell advanced tickets so they don’t lose out on the money if kids don’t show up, though. Get Sec1 Fan to ask Delveccio! Can’t hurt to try!
Also, the finals are the next day, if they make it that far.

Wow what a result, who expected 6-2. Flory is unstoppable, even in games when he doesn’t score he changes the game because Dzenis, Harms, and Mamone have more room than they should have because of him. Probably won’t be a fan bus because of the game time, but maybe more kids will be able to drive up because they’re pretty much forced to drive up Friday night because of the 10:00 start. It’ll be expensive but it’s fricking states so who cares.

Rye got a fan bus for their Frozen Four gamme vs. MW two years ago. About 70 kids came.

If Pelhem wins do it again on Sunday.
This can be a fan bus of kids and adults so it gets filled.

Pelham fans-
First off congrats on your team making it to Utica.
Second, if you are planning on heading up and staying overnight, book your hotel now. There are still four quarterfinal games yet to be played tonight, and as those finish, there will be team-fulls of fans, parents, and schools (booking rooms for the players & coaches) looking for rooms. The longer you wait, the farther from the Aud you will have to stay.
Lastly, as for a bus, why wait for the administration to decide what to do? It’s obvious they have a bad taste in their mouth after losing money on the West Point game, so chances are they won’t get one for Utica. Here’s the thing, though. ANYONE can rent a bus, it is not limited to just schools. If you have a real go-getter in your fan base (I’m looking at you, Sec1 fan), you can organize a bus trip. It won’t be school sanctioned, so you will need a few adults on board to book the bus (They won’t rent to a 17-year-old kid), take ultimate responsibility, and “chaperone” the trip. Since the school wouldn’t be involved, you would have to do the leg-work in getting people on board, but it seems like you have the ear of the fan-base, so give it a shot.
You schedule the bus to leave at 5:30 am from somewhere in the area (not the high school, since they are not sanctioning it) where you can all leave your cars, you’ll get there in time for the game, plan on the bus leaving Utica around 1:30, you’ll be back in Pelham by 5:30 and let the bus company know that if they win on Saturday, you may want to rent the bus again on Sunday. If the bus seats 50, everyone kicks in 1/50th the cost of the bus and you’re all set.
Haha I spoke with Delvecchio at the game (when we were up by 4 goals) and we will have a fan bus on Saturday. There will also be a bus for Sunday if we were to win, knock on wood. The cost, times and all other details are being worked out tomorrow and will be announced to the school early in the week.
The game was awesome, and I was really glad that we could get a decent student section going despite the 3.5 hour drive and no bus. Pelham came to play today, and had a power play that was unstoppable. Flory scored on 2 amazing passes from Mike Mamone, a breakaway, an absolute dangle, and the empty netter.
A bus for Sunday (assuming you beat Burke on Saturday) is key. If you make it to the finals, you would most likely be playing New Hartford, who not only is the #1 team in the state, but New Hartford is a suburb of Utica. I would expect their whole student body will show up since it’s unbelievably local (About 10 miles away from the Aud).

What I meant by them having a bad taste in their mouth about West Point, I meant that from what I have been reading on here, their idea for a fan bus lost them money, so they would be hesitant to get one again (even though if they announce it early enough, it should work).
This was my first opportunity on a computer since the game ended. ——-Pelham’s defense shut them down in the second and third period after a tough start.Queensbury had no answer for our potent first line attack led by Flory/Mamone.

A player scores 5 goals in a regional game against a team that was one of the best in the state and they want to talk about how much defense he played? Has anyone in the state ever scored 5 goals in a regional game? They all played defense I guess to hold that team to one legit and one non legit goal. Queensbury was one of the best teams in that state all year. Did you see what happened once Pelham got the lead?

The 6 goals were the most scored against Queensbury all season. I doubt the goalies for Queensbury are weak. Give credit where credit is due.
if burke catholic lost to scarsdale, then pelham is easily gunna put them to sleep. im seeing pelham as the 2009 nys division 2 champions.

Does any one know how crappy the red roof inn in Utica is?
Last time I stayed at that Red Roof Inn, it seemed OK, but then again that was for the 1990 Frozen Four so who knows what’s happened there over the last 20 years.
Reliable source here. Red Roof is fine. Actually the most reasonably priced hotel/motel in the area. Its close to the rink and its clean
